Expect encounters with elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife, all set against breathtaking backdrops.
Tour Plan
Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Top of the Falls Experience
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Entebbe or Kampala. After a short briefing, you’ll embark on a scenic drive north toward Murchison Falls National Park, covering approximately 5 to 6 hours.
Stopover: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa
Along the way, you’ll stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can see wild white rhinos. Accompanied by a ranger, you’ll enjoy a guided on-foot rhino tracking experience, getting remarkably close to these impressive animals in their natural environment. The activity typically lasts 1.5 to 2 hours and also offers opportunities for birdwatching.
Continue your journey toward the park, passing through local towns, farmlands, and woodland savannah.
Afternoon: Arrival & Top of the Falls
Upon entering the park, proceed to the Top of Murchison Falls, one of the most spectacular natural sights in Africa. Here, the Victoria Nile squeezes through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters below with incredible force.
Take a short guided walk to different viewpoints, where you’ll feel the mist on your face and hear the thunder of the falls—an unforgettable introduction to your safari.
Afterward, transfer to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and relaxation.
Morning Game Drive & Boat Safari on the Victoria Nile
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park, an area known for its rich wildlife concentrations.
Morning: Game Drive in the Savannah
As you explore the open plains, you’ll have excellent chances of spotting lions, elephants, buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeests, oribis, and warthogs. Early morning is also the best time to catch predators before they retreat from the heat.
Birdlife is abundant, so keep an eye out for species such as secretary birds, hornbills, and vultures scanning the plains.
Return to your lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch.
Afternoon: Boat Safari to the Bottom of the Falls
In the afternoon, head out for a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile, one of the highlights of any Uganda wildlife safari.
As you cruise upstream toward the base of the falls, you’ll encounter large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles basking on the riverbanks, and elephants coming down to drink. The riverbanks are also alive with birdlife, including African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, and pelicans.
The boat slowly approaches the base of the falls, offering a dramatic perspective of the powerful cascade from below—a perfect moment for photography.
After the cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Early Morning Game Drive & Return to Entebbe/Kampala
On your final day, set out early for a short morning game drive, giving you one last opportunity to spot wildlife you may have missed.
This is often a great time to see predators like lions or hyenas returning from a night hunt, while elephants and giraffes begin their morning feeding routines.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast and check-out.
Return Journey
Begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, passing through the scenic Budongo Forest area and enjoying views of the Rift Valley escarpment overlooking Lake Albert.
You’ll have a lunch stop along the way and opportunities to stretch, take photos, or purchase local crafts.
Arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, where your guide will drop you off at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
