Tour Plan
Nairobi to Aberdare Region – Wildlife Viewing & Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After a short briefing from your guide, you’ll set off north toward the Aberdare region, enjoying a scenic drive through Kenya’s fertile highlands.
The journey takes approximately 3–4 hours, passing coffee plantations, rural villages, and rolling countryside with views of Mount Kenya on clear days. Upon arrival at Sweetwaters Tented Camp (located within Ol Pejeta Conservancy near the Aberdares), you’ll check in and enjoy lunch while overlooking the surrounding plains.
In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive. The conservancy is known for its high concentration of wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, lions, giraffes, and various antelope species. The open terrain allows for excellent wildlife viewing and photography.
Later, visit the chimpanzee sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where you can see rescued chimpanzees in a protected environment. This unique conservation project offers insight into primate protection efforts and adds a meaningful dimension to your safari.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation under the African sky.
Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park – Rift Valley Landscapes & Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, enjoy a short morning game drive as you exit the conservancy before beginning your journey south toward Lake Nakuru National Park.
The drive takes approximately 4–5 hours and includes a scenic descent into the Great Rift Valley. You’ll pass through Nairobi for a lunch stop before continuing to Lake Nakuru, a compact but wildlife-rich park set around a beautiful alkaline lake.
Arrive in the early afternoon and begin your game drive. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos (seasonal) and abundant birdlife, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The park is also one of the best places in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos.
As you explore, you may encounter lions resting in the shade, leopards in acacia trees, Rothschild’s giraffes browsing quietly, and herds of waterbucks near the lake shores.
The landscape here is particularly scenic, with wooded areas, open grasslands, and lake views all within a relatively small area.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara – Scenic Transfer & Evening Game Drive
After breakfast, enjoy a final short morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park before departing for the world-famous Masai Mara.
The drive takes approximately 5–6 hours, passing through Narok town and the traditional lands of the Maasai people. Along the way, you’ll see open plains, grazing livestock, and vibrant rural life, offering a deeper connection to Kenya’s culture.
Arrive at your lodge in the Masai Mara in time for lunch, followed by check-in and a brief rest.
In the late afternoon, head out for your first game drive in the reserve. The Masai Mara is renowned for its incredible wildlife density and is considered one of the best safari destinations in Africa.
During this drive, you may spot elephants moving across the plains, giraffes silhouetted against the horizon, and predators such as lions and cheetahs preparing for the evening. The golden light of sunset enhances the entire experience, creating perfect safari moments.
Return to your lodge for dinner and enjoy the peaceful wilderness atmosphere.
Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara – Big Five & Migration Experience
Today is dedicated to a full-day wildlife safari in the Masai Mara, giving you the best opportunity to explore the reserve in depth.
After an early breakfast, depart with a packed picnic lunch for a full-day game drive across different sections of the park. Your guide will track wildlife movements and take you to areas with the highest chances of sightings.
You’ll search for the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and large herds of zebras and wildebeest.
If you’re visiting during the migration season (July to October), you may witness the incredible Great Wildebeest Migration. This involves massive herds crossing the Mara River, often pursued by predators and threatened by crocodiles—a dramatic and unforgettable wildlife spectacle.
Enjoy your picnic lunch at a scenic location, often near the Mara River or a hippo pool, before continuing your afternoon game drive.
You may also choose to visit a Maasai village (optional activity) to learn about their traditional lifestyle, culture, and connection to the land.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.
Morning Game Drive & Return to Nairobi
On your final day, wake up early for a sunrise game drive. This is one of the best times to observe wildlife, as predators are still active and the savannah is bathed in soft morning light.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and begin your journey back to Nairobi.
The drive takes approximately 5–6 hours, with a stop for lunch along the way. As you ascend from the Rift Valley, enjoy scenic views and reflect on your safari experience.
Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight.
This marks the end of your unforgettable 5-day Kenya wildlife safari adventure, filled with diverse landscapes, incredible wildlife, and authentic African experiences.
