Tour Plan
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park – Scenic Journey & First Wildlife Encounters
Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or airport in Nairobi, followed by a detailed briefing from your professional safari guide. You’ll then embark on a scenic drive south toward Amboseli National Park (approximately 4–5 hours).
As you leave the city behind, the landscape gradually transforms into open countryside dotted with acacia trees, Maasai homesteads, and grazing livestock. The drive itself offers a fascinating introduction to Kenya’s rural life and natural beauty.
Upon arrival in Amboseli, check in at your lodge and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch before heading out for your first afternoon game drive. Amboseli is renowned for its large elephant herds, often seen moving gracefully across the plains in family groups. The park’s open terrain makes wildlife viewing excellent, allowing you to spot animals from a distance.
In addition to elephants, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, and possibly predators such as lions or cheetahs. If the weather is clear, you’ll also catch your first glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak rising dramatically in the background.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation, with the sounds of the African wilderness around you.
Full Day in Amboseli – Sunrise Views & Extensive Game Drives
Begin your day early with a sunrise game drive—arguably the best time to experience Amboseli. As the morning light breaks over the plains, wildlife becomes more active, and Mount Kilimanjaro often reveals itself before clouds gather later in the day.
This early start gives you a chance to witness predators returning from a night of hunting and herbivores beginning their day. The golden light also provides excellent conditions for photography.
After the morning drive, return to your lodge for breakfast and some relaxation. Later, continue with another extended game drive, exploring different areas of the park, including swamps fed by underground springs from Kilimanjaro. These wetlands attract elephants, hippos, and a variety of bird species, creating a completely different ecosystem within the park.
Throughout the day, your guide will track wildlife movements, ensuring you experience the best possible sightings. Expect to see large herds of elephants, antelopes, hyenas, and potentially big cats resting in the shade.
Return to your lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
Amboseli to Lake Manyara – Cross-Border Adventure & Forest Wildlife
After breakfast, begin your journey into Tanzania (approximately 5–6 hours including border crossing). This is a fascinating travel day, taking you through Maasai lands and across the Kenya–Tanzania border.
As you continue toward Lake Manyara National Park, you’ll notice a dramatic shift in scenery—from dry plains to lush greenery beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
Arrive in the afternoon and begin a game drive through Lake Manyara’s diverse ecosystems. The park is famous for its dense groundwater forest, where you may encounter large troops of baboons, monkeys, and elephants moving quietly through the trees.
As you move toward the open plains and lakeshore, keep an eye out for giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes. Lake Manyara is also known for its rare tree-climbing lions, often seen resting on branches.
The lake itself attracts flamingos and other bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
After your game drive, head to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening.
Lake Manyara to Serengeti – Into Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Arena
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park (approximately 5–6 hours), one of the most celebrated wildlife destinations in the world.
En route, you may stop at Olduvai Gorge, where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered—adding a historical dimension to your journey.
As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into vast plains stretching endlessly to the horizon. Wildlife sightings begin almost immediately, as the park is home to one of the highest concentrations of animals in Africa.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive as you head toward your camp. You may encounter herds of wildebeest and zebras, along with predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
Depending on the season, this is also where you may witness part of the Great Wildebeest Migration, a breathtaking movement of millions of animals across the plains.
Arrive at your camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Full Day in Serengeti – Predator Action & Migration Tracking
Today is a full immersion into the Serengeti ecosystem, with extensive game drives across different regions of the park.
Start with an early morning drive when predators are most active. You may witness lions hunting, cheetahs chasing prey, or leopards descending from trees after a night of activity.
After breakfast, continue exploring the plains, tracking wildlife movements with your guide. The Serengeti’s vastness allows for diverse sightings, from elephants and giraffes to large herds of antelope and buffaloes.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush, surrounded by nature, before continuing your afternoon exploration. Your guide will take you to areas known for high wildlife activity, increasing your chances of memorable sightings.
As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner and relaxation under the stars.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater – Wildlife & Scenic Highlands
After breakfast, depart Serengeti and journey toward the Ngorongoro Crater (approximately 3–4 hours).
Descend into the crater for a game drive in one of Africa’s most unique ecosystems. The crater floor is rich in wildlife, offering excellent chances to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, and the rare black rhino.
The enclosed environment creates a natural wildlife sanctuary, making animal sightings more frequent and rewarding. You’ll also encounter hippos, zebras, and a wide range of bird species.
Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before continuing your exploration. Later, ascend to the crater rim and head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Ngorongoro to Arusha & Return to Nairobi – Journey Home
After breakfast, begin your drive to Arusha (approximately 3–4 hours), enjoying scenic views along the way.
After a short stop, continue to the Kenya border and proceed to Nairobi (approximately 4–5 hours total from Arusha). This final journey offers time to reflect on your safari experiences—from elephants in Amboseli to predators in the Serengeti.
Arrive in Nairobi in the early evening, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable East African safari.
