Tour Plan

Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants, Baobabs & River Wildlife

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha after breakfast. After a short briefing from your guide, you’ll set off on a scenic drive south toward Tarangire National Park (approximately 2–3 hours).

As you leave Arusha behind, the landscape gradually opens into rolling plains dotted with Maasai villages and grazing livestock. Upon arrival at Tarangire, you’ll immediately begin your game drive, entering a park renowned for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.

Tarangire is especially rewarding during the dry season, when wildlife gathers along the Tarangire River—the park’s lifeline. Expect to see elephants in large family groups, giraffes browsing acacia trees, zebras and wildebeests grazing, and buffaloes moving across the plains. Predators such as lions and occasionally leopards may also be spotted, particularly near water sources.

The Park is also a haven for birdlife, with over 300 species recorded. Keep an eye out for colorful birds such as lilac-breasted rollers, hornbills, and fish eagles.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area within the park, surrounded by nature, before continuing your afternoon game drive. As the day winds down, you’ll exit the park and head to your campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Big Five in a Natural Wonder

After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approximately 2–3 hours), one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations. As you ascend the highlands, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscapes before reaching the crater rim.

From here, descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” This unique ecosystem supports one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa, making it one of the best places for Big Five sightings in a single day.

Your game drive inside the crater offers exceptional opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, and if lucky, the endangered black rhino. You’ll also encounter large numbers of zebras, wildebeests, warthogs, hyenas, and various antelope species.

The crater floor features diverse habitats, including open grasslands, swamps, forests, and Lake Magadi—a shallow alkaline lake that attracts flamingos and other water birds. This variety makes wildlife viewing both exciting and dynamic throughout the day.

Pause for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot near a hippo pool, where you can relax while watching hippos wallowing in the water. After lunch, continue exploring different areas of the crater before ascending back to the rim in the afternoon.

You’ll then transfer to the nearby village of Mto wa Mbu for dinner and overnight, reflecting on a day filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Day 3

Lake Manyara National Park – Forest, Flamingos & Tree-Climbing Lions

After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park (approximately 1 hour), a compact yet incredibly diverse park nestled between the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the shimmering lake.

Despite its smaller size, Lake Manyara offers a rich variety of ecosystems—from lush groundwater forests to open grasslands and lakeshore habitats—making it an excellent destination for a short but rewarding wildlife safari.

Begin your morning game drive through the dense forest, where you may encounter troops of baboons, blue monkeys, and elephants moving quietly through the trees. As you continue, the landscape opens up to grassy plains where giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes roam.

Lake Manyara is famously known for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior occasionally observed as lions rest on tree branches. While sightings are not guaranteed, your guide will make every effort to locate them.

The lake itself attracts large numbers of flamingos (seasonal), pelicans, and other water birds, offering excellent opportunities for birdwatching and photography.

After a picnic lunch or lunch stop, enjoy a final game drive before beginning your return journey to Arusha (approximately 2–3 hours). Arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your 3-day Tanzania wildlife safari.
