Tour Plan

Day 1

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park – Forest, Flamingos & Scenic Rift Valley

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a short briefing from your professional driver-guide. From here, you’ll drive toward Lake Manyara National Park (approximately 2 hours), located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

Upon arrival, begin your game drive through this compact yet diverse park, known for its rich ecosystems that range from groundwater forests to open floodplains and lakeshore habitats. As you enter the forest, you may encounter large troops of baboons, blue monkeys, and elephants moving quietly beneath the towering trees.

As you continue deeper into the park, the landscape opens into grassy plains where zebras, giraffes, and buffaloes graze. Lake Manyara is also famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior occasionally observed as lions rest on tree branches.

Along the lake’s edge, you may spot flocks of flamingos (seasonal), pelicans, and other water birds, making this a rewarding destination for birdwatching.

After lunch at your lodge, continue exploring the park in the afternoon before settling in for dinner and a relaxed evening surrounded by nature.

Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park – Journey into the Wild Plains

This scenic drive takes you through the Ngorongoro highlands, offering sweeping views of rolling hills and distant plains. Along the way, you may choose to stop at Olduvai Gorge, a significant historical site known for early human discoveries.

As you descend into the Serengeti, the landscape transforms dramatically into vast, open savannah stretching to the horizon. Wildlife sightings begin almost immediately as you enter the park.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive en route to your lodge, where you may encounter large herds of wildebeest and zebras, along with predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. If traveling during migration season, you could witness part of the Great Wildebeest Migration—an extraordinary natural spectacle.

Return briefly for breakfast or enjoy a bush breakfast depending on your schedule, then continue your exploration across different areas of the park. The Serengeti is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and a wide variety of antelope species.

Throughout the day, your guide will track wildlife movements and take you to areas with the best viewing opportunities. Depending on the season, you may follow the Great Migration herds or focus on predator-rich regions known for dramatic wildlife interactions.

You may also opt to visit Olduvai Gorge or a nearby Maasai village for a cultural experience, gaining insight into traditional lifestyles and history.

You’ll also visit Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake that attracts flamingos and other birdlife, adding to the diversity of the experience.
