Tour Plan

Day 1

Nairobi to Masai Mara – Scenic Rift Valley Drive & Afternoon Game Drive

Your journey begins in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel or residence in Nairobi by your professional safari guide. After a short briefing, you’ll set off on a scenic drive toward the Masai Mara, covering approximately 5–6 hours.

As you leave the city behind, the landscape gradually transforms into rolling countryside and dramatic escarpments. You’ll make a stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you can take in breathtaking panoramic views of one of the world’s most impressive geological formations. This is a perfect opportunity for photos and a short break.

Continue through Narok town, a bustling Maasai hub, where you’ll stop for lunch before proceeding to the reserve. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional Maasai homesteads, open grazing lands, and herds of livestock, offering a glimpse into the region’s cultural heritage.

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the early afternoon, check in, and take a short rest before heading out for your first game drive.

In the late afternoon, venture into the Masai Mara plains for an exciting introduction to the wildlife. The reserve is home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and an impressive population of predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The soft golden light of the afternoon enhances both wildlife viewing and photography, creating a truly magical safari atmosphere.

As the sun sets over the savannah, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Spend the evening relaxing, enjoying the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2

Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara – Big Five & Migration Experience

Today is the highlight of your Masai Mara wildlife safari, dedicated to a full day of exploration in the reserve.

After an early breakfast, depart with a packed picnic lunch for a full-day game drive across the vast plains. Your experienced guide will take you to some of the best wildlife viewing areas, tracking animal movements and sharing insights about the ecosystem.

The Masai Mara is renowned for its high concentration of wildlife, giving you excellent chances to spot the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—along with cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and numerous antelope species. You may witness dramatic predator-prey interactions or observe herds of elephants moving gracefully across the plains.

If traveling during the migration season (July to September), you may have the extraordinary opportunity to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration. This natural spectacle involves thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River in search of fresh grazing, often braving strong currents and crocodile-infested waters—a truly unforgettable sight.

Enjoy your picnic lunch at a scenic location, often near the Mara River or a hippo pool, where you can watch hippos and other wildlife as you relax.

In the afternoon, continue your game drive, exploring different areas of the reserve and maximizing your wildlife sightings before returning to your lodge in the evening.

Begin your final day with an early morning game drive, one of the best times to observe wildlife in the Masai Mara. As the sun rises, predators such as lions and hyenas may still be active, while herbivores start grazing in the cool morning air.

This early drive offers excellent opportunities for photography and a chance to spot any animals you may have missed during previous game drives.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast. Take some time to freshen up, check out, and prepare for your journey back to Nairobi.

Depart the Masai Mara mid-morning and begin the return drive, retracing your route through the scenic Great Rift Valley. You’ll stop for lunch along the way and enjoy the changing landscapes as you approach the city.
