Tour Plan

Day 1

Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins with a warm welcome from your professional driver-guide, who will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport. After a short briefing, you’ll set off on a scenic drive toward southwestern Uganda.

The journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, crossing into Uganda via Cyanika (near Kisoro) or Katuna (near Kabale), depending on your lodge location—commonly in the Rushaga or Nkuringo sector of Bwindi.

As you travel, enjoy Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills before transitioning into Uganda’s Kigezi Highlands, known for their terraced landscapes, misty valleys, and vibrant rural life.

Arrive at your lodge around midday or early afternoon, check in, and enjoy lunch.

You may choose to visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience or take a guided nature walk along the forest edge to explore the biodiversity of this region.

Relax at your lodge, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and settle in for a peaceful night near the rainforest.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing conducted by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

You will be assigned to a habituated gorilla family and grouped with a maximum of 8 trekkers before setting off into the forest.

The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement and location of the gorillas. The terrain is forested and sometimes steep, but your experienced guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable pace.

As you hike through the dense rainforest, your guide will interpret the environment, pointing out birdlife, plants, and other primates.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them at close range. Watch them feed, groom, rest, and interact—an intimate wildlife experience that is both powerful and humbling.

After the trek, return to the headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate, then transfer back to your lodge for lunch and a short rest.

Later in the afternoon, depart for Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a scenic drive of approximately 2 to 3 hours through the highlands of southwestern Uganda. The landscape changes dramatically, with views of the Virunga volcanoes rising in the distance.

Arrive at your lodge near Mgahinga in the evening, check in, and relax.

Day 3

Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the Mgahinga park headquarters (approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour) for a briefing on golden monkey trekking.

Golden monkeys are unique to the Virunga region and are known for their bright golden-orange fur and energetic behavior. Unlike gorilla trekking, this experience is generally less strenuous and more fast-paced.

The trek typically takes 1 to 3 hours, depending on the location of the troop. Once the monkeys are located, you will spend about one hour observing them, watching them leap through bamboo trees, feed on shoots, and interact playfully within their groups.

Because of their lively nature, the experience is especially rewarding for photographers and nature lovers.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying the scenic surroundings, or take a short nature walk or cultural visit in the nearby communities.
